Tank reserve radiator assembly
The reserve tank, also known as the coolant reservoir or expansion tank, is a container integral to a vehicle’s cooling system.
Most modern cars do not have a separate reserve tank for water coolant tank.
Some older vehicles may have a reserve water coolant feature with a switch or valve.
The feature allows access to a smaller portion of the water tank when the main water level is low.
Modern cars rely on temperature level sensors and warning systems to indicate high temperature.
It's recommended to keep the water tank adequately filled and avoid relying too much on the water cooler tank feature.
The reserve tank assembly radiator is a plastic reservoir, mounted in the engine bay for storing the coolant required by the engine. A reserve tank assembly radiator is necessary because every vehicle’s engine goes through cycles of expelling and absorbing the coolant as it cools down its heated body.
This means that when the engine is cold, there is a low level of pressure of the cooling system, requiring more coolant. Whereas, when the engine warms up, the pressure of the cooling system increases, requiring a lesser amount of coolant.
Made up of durable plastic, reserve tank assembly radiator are usually located on the upper right-hand side of the engine compartment that you can check in your vehicle. Since the coolant helps in the entire cooling function of the engine, a functioning reservoir is crucial to avoid trouble.
